Autumn 2025
It was great to start teaching piano at Embley School in September, with a broad range in both age and ability, all of which have been great to teach. My gratitude also extends more widely in the Music Department as I have been able to have various accompanying opportunities for the likes of performances and auditions. I look forward to this collaboration continuing!
The Salisbury Plain Military Wives Choir were excellent to work with (as they always are!), though there are one or two Christmas numbers I’m glad to shelve for 11 months with their devilish piano parts…
In October, my wife and I were able to put on a recital for our family and friends at Bromorough Evangelical Church, and it was a treat to perform with her on violin.
A highlight of the term was the Bryanston School production of Beauty and the Beast, which posed a new challenge for me – the keyboard being plugged into a laptop in order to change the sounds as the show went on. This was great fun to be a harpsichord, accordion, oboe, trombones etc., but the most exciting part was the wolf sound effects.
All of these were overshadowed somewhat by the birth of my first child, a baby boy born in November. Life has been a bit hectic, but such a joy.
